...and the hurrah continues

The summer fun continues.  Alex continued to feel very poorly Thursday morning/early afternoon, and while Anthony, Josh, and I played on the beach, with their wave boards.  Too bad the waves were almost non-existant.  They just ended playing on the beach for a good deal of the time.  When we came back, I took Alex to the doctor (with Josh in tow), while Nicole and Anthony went back to the beach (pictures to follow).  When we came to the walk in clinic, Alex had a 102 degree fever, a flaired up ear infection, and maybe a case of the flu.  After antibiotics and fever reducers, Alex felt well enough to join the rest of us on the beach for the sunset (and some shell collection). Alex woke again a bit under the weather this am, but back to normal by lunchtime (with medicine).  We all headed to the beach for splashing, with Alex wanting to just sun herself, make sand castles, and take pictures.  After a while, Alex, Nicole, and Joshua headed back in, while Anthony and I swam a bit, hunted for shells.  Right after the 3 left, Anthony and I saw a ray jump out of the water 2 times about 20 yards away from us.  It was really cool.  We went out for dinner at a local seafood restaurant, and for homemade ice cream (in a pouring rain).  The evening finished with a little excitement from Alex again, as she lost her first tooth right before bedtime.  Tooth Fairy needs to come when she gets back home. Pictures will be posted soon on Facebook.

End of Summer Hurrah...

With school going back into session for the kids in about 2 1/2 weeks, we are celebrating the "end of summer" at the beach this week. Though Alex seems to have picked up a bug and has been miserable off and on over the last couple of days, we have had a good week so far. We arrived on Sunday evening and after going out to eat at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., we went down to the beach just after sunset so the kids could splash in the Gulf. On Monday, after sleeping in a bit, we hit the beach around 10:30 in the morning and hung around for a couple of hours. Back to the rental for rest, and after dinner, we walked down to a local mini-golf course to "battle" on the greens. Tuesday morning awoke with Alex feeling a bit under the weather, but was back to normal for an early afternoon walk over to the beach. After about 90 minutes, we were treated to a visit along the shore line of a dolphin swimming about 30-40 feet off shore. Sorry, no pictures, but a good run down the beach trying to keep up and watch the dolphin swim. After resting at the condo for a couple of hours, we went down to St. Pete to catch the Rays vs the Red Sox (pictures at Facebook).  We left the game after the 10th inning with two tired kids, and Anthony wanting more. Wednesday was mostly a rain out, with thunderstorms in the morning and rain showers most of the afternoon.  It cleared up enough for Anthony to do a quick splash at sunset. More to do tomorrow.  Hopefully the kids will go out with their new wave boards.

Kids and their activities

This weekend has so far been our slowest of the month. Only one baseball game and ballet class was on the agenda this morning. :) This lack of activity possessed me to try to do some spring cleaning in the boys room. And what an undertaking that is....it is hard to realize how much stuff can accumulate in their room...and theirs is the cleaner of the kids' rooms. Nicole says that it is typical for a girl's room, but with Alex seemingly taken over every stuffed animal any of the 3 kids received as gifts, I'm afraid that I need a whip and chair just to tame the beasts. Homework day tomorrow....with more cleaning.
